Inaugural Social Sciences Tweetchat #socchat Thur 31 Jan 7.30pm (GMT)

We are delighted that within a week of our launch there have been requests for a live ‘tweetchat’ for social scientists/social researchers. The support we have received in promoting this event has been humbling and we are grateful to each and every one of you. The purpose of @socphd & #socchat is predominantly to assist your capacity to connect with others in your field and to integrate tweets from across the social sciences. This is no mean feat, especially with a global audience and as with all successful collaborations it means everyone has to do their bit to make this happen.

At @socphd HQ we have been working hard over the last two weeks to establish social media portals and we are open to further suggestions. At the moment this enterprise is curated by one full time postgraduate student thus as it develops a team will be needed to help moderate and host our social media interactions. Many hands make light work and it may be from time to time you can offer some support. We recognise that there are many demands on your time and commitments could be short or long term. Social media has to be nurtured it requires activity, so your support may come from posting using the #socphd #socchat hashtags & when you can retweet, or mention us to others in your university, workplace, simply spread the word.

Tonight’s inaugural chat will be in two parts the first 30minutes to collate your ideas on what you would like to see from @socphd, how can we best facilitate your capacity to integrate knowledge and ideas and to connect with others. The second half will be for you to share you specific collaborative needs and network desires.

Finally, we have some news to share to you at the end of the chat…….. So excited! 🙂
